Pros and cons of iCatcher! Podcast Player app for iPhone and iPad

iCatcher! Podcast Player app good for

Nice layout, It only lacks the possibilihy to group podcasts by category, and labels for icons
Love it, use it every day. Have done for years. And Im not easily pleased!
The app is stable, customizable and the design is perfect. You could think it is expensive, but I believe it worth it. It will probably became the app I use the most.
Great app easy to use, a lot of nice shortcuts, frequently updated. Can we expect more ?
This podcast app is simply the only one that works perfectly on my iPod Touch 4 with iOS 6. I really appreciate that the developper has maintained support for old iOS versions, so that old iOS devices can still benefit from this great app. Functionality-wise, it just does anything one could imagine related to podcasts and much more: the endless customization possibilities offered by iCatcher are just mind blowing! Really worth the few bucks spent on it!
I have tried many podcast playing apps, including most that make the inevitable best of lists when choosing which app to download. ICatcher is a simple product with some excellent innovations and personalization options, the playlists are easy to use and work well and there is a useful bookmarks tool which I use frequently. Great product:)

Some bad moments

Dowload is VERY slow when I use wifi. But if I use the 3G antenna, its faster. My wifi connection is very good, with my iphone I can reach 80mb/s... i think the app is badly designed for the wifi download
I cant stream a single podcast with the app crashing or getting a playback error!
YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE: 2.8.4 is the release for which you have been waiting. All bugs seem to have been quashed. Podcasts download per configuration. It will even play the next podcast again per configuration. It has been a very long time between functional releases. I will not be moving off of this release for as long as I can prevent it. -------- old ------- No auto updates of podcasts for 8 days after last 2 updates. When can we expect a functional iCatcher update or a way to roll back to 2.8.0, the last functioning release? BREAKING NEWS: Sometimes a "delete all" command will get podcasts to download again when the unsubscribe/resubscribe trick fails. Of course you have to redo some settings but its probably still faster than shopping for a functional podcast app. Hey all, post your workarounds here until we get a stable release. I want my podcast app to work for me, not for me to work for my podcast app. If ever an application required one clean stability rewrite, this is it. June 2016: 2.8.2: second update in 2 days restores a semblance of stability. App no longer crashes when using basic navigation controls. But much remains broken before the increasingly rare stable iCatcher release. Podcasts no longer update but require daily resubscribing to get updates. Possibly for amusement value, an error message warns against doing this, although it is the only way to get downloads to function. This is probably due to the "update" to allow your configuration to be stored in iCloud. It would be crazy to turn that on until this stabilizes. If a single device config is broken, one can only imagine the chaos with distributed usage. Automatic move to play next episode in playback when current finishes no longer functions. Coupled with the complete lack of stable podcast updates, I see no remaining iCatcher advantage over manually downloading an mp3 manually and adding it to a player. Previous review: This app is a thing of beauty on the rare versions which work correctly. Sadly, it is usually released without serious testing. With most versions, it has a mind of its own and all user configuration settings are treated as mere requests which the app may or may not consider. Most updates do break features. When there is a solid update my recommendation is to stay with it. For fun, or just to see how convoluted it can be, pick wifi update only (probably the common choice), and opt to download over cellular anyway when youre out somewhere away from WI-FI. You would expect it to be slow, but I bet youll be shocked to find that it takes 5 minutes of repeating the same bizarre user interface flow to make it do the download. I cringe when thinking of the underlying code here. I hadnt realized that I had all apps set to update automatically in my new iOS, but I sure realized it after a flurry of May/June 2016 updates changed this app with new bugs almost daily. I listen to 3 podcasts regularly and Ive had to delete and resubscribe to them daily. And basic navigation features crashed it immediately. I left a detailed 1 star review many months ago which seems to have been deleted, which is sad. I would really like to know how that happened. If you get a version which works for you do not update it. You have been warned.
